The Northern California Education Foundation is pleased to announce that a rare piece of art from the legendary artist, Mr. Gregory Kondos, will be up for auction. It’s a limited edition artist’s proof lithograph (5 of a series of 10), titled Yosemite Falls, completed in 1990. The lithograph is 61 cm x 36 cm (24” x 14”). The original oil-on-canvas was sold to Dr. Franklin Yee, who will be at the gala. Mr. and Mrs. Kondos have graciously donated this uber piece of artwork to the foundation for tonight’s charity auction, benefiting students of CNU. This art work is appraised at $2,700. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Kondos.
Mr. Kondos is one of Northern California’s most renowned and favorite landscape painters. He was one of the first homegrown celebrities to be a star on the Sacramento Walk of Stars. Among his permanent public art installations are the 510-foot-long glass mural “River’s Edge” and the 12-foot-tall oil painting “Sutter’s Gold,” both at the Sacramento International Airport. His oil-on-canvas “River Life” is on display at Sac State’s Leslie and Anita Harper Alumni Center.
Mr. Kondos grew up in Sacramento from about age 3, when his parents moved the family from Massachusetts, and he served four years in the Navy during World War II before returning to Sacramento.
The Foundation is honored to have Mr. and Mrs. Kondos attending our gala.
